Well, there's not a thing in the world in it, 'cept, self-rising cornmeal, tsp salt, eggs and buttermilk, and a little bit of cooking oil.
Set your oven on about 450 degrees, then while it's heating up, fix you up about a cup and a half of cornmeal, two eggs, about a cup of buttermilk, and pour you a little oil, bout 2 tablespoons full.
Note: if you want to use plain meal (not self-rising), you'll need to add about teaspoon of baking soda and a teaspoon of baking powder.
Just mix it all together, grease your pan real good. Pour it in, and put it in the oven. Let it cook until brown on the top. Then press with your fingers and if it comes back pretty firm, it's ready. |
